What music to download is a matter of personal opinion, not everyone likes the same music. Visit online music stores to see what is popular. Most of these sites keep a record of how popular songs are based on the number of downloads. Create a song list and then you can go elsewhere to find the music to download, unless you want to get them there.

Social networking sites also offer music ideas. There is one that was originally designed to share music so there are lots of musical ideas to be found there. Not only can you listen to the music to decide if you like it, you can usually download it from the site.  Other sites abound for up and coming musicians. They put their music on the Internet hoping you will listen to it and like it. This helps them get exposure and you get some good tunes. A  search engine can uncover the hidden gems of the music world.

If you are still running short on ideas for music to download, ask your friends what they are currently listening to. Borrow their IPod and look at their playlist. You might even find music you didn’t know existed. Check out your friend’s social networking pages, some people link their favorite music to their pages. This gives you a chance to listen to it and provides a link to access the songs.

Finally, you can Google music, song lists, and other terms related to finding music online and turn up literally hundreds of websites dedicated to music. The Internet is a literal mine of music waiting to be unearthed. All it takes is a little research and you are on your way.
